Clinical Nutrition

Good nutrition is one of the foundations of good health. As such, there is a lot of truth to, "you are what you eat.”  Like medicines, foods affect the way your body functions: some foods help you heal, while others damage your body and contribute to chronic illness.  We will help you cut through the misinformation of fad diets and determine a truly healthy diet individualized for you.  You may be asked to keep a diet diary, which is the first step in helping to determine food allergies, sensitivities, digestive issues, risk for disease associated with diet, and overall diet quality.  A complete dietary prescription may include the use of a minimum amount of necessary supplements required to correct deficiencies or therapeutically change a biochemical process.

Natural does not always mean safe – Nutritional supplements can be very effective when used properly; however, although rare, they can be toxic when used incorrectly.  Naturopathic doctors have extensive training in conventional pharmacology and nutrient-drug interactions, dosing, potential side-effects, and compounding formulations.  We have the training to use nutritional supplements safely and effectively.
